Inspecting the Terminal

Payment terminals are subject to tampering in transit to merchants because they are used to process sensitive card data. To deter tampering and make it easier to identify, your payment terminal is shipped in a tamper-resistant bag with a colored seal and a unique serial number. After receiving your payment terminal, inspect the shipping package and the terminal for evidence of tampering.
Follow these steps to inspect the terminal:
  1. Before opening the shipping container, inspect it for damage or tampering.
  2. After opening the shipping container, verify that the manufacturer's box containing the terminal has not been opened and that the security seal is intact.
  3. Verify that all of the components you ordered with the payment terminal, such as the power supply cord, Ethernet or USB connectivity cable, and Ethernet / USB dongle cable, were included with the shipment.
  4. After opening the manufacturer's product container, inspect the bag containing the terminal for evidence of tampering. The colored security seal on the tamper-resistant bag should be intact and undamaged.
  5. Break the security seal on the tamper-resistant bag and remove the terminal.
  6. Verify that the brand, model, and serial number (S/N) on the back of the terminal match what is printed on the manufacturer's box.
  7. Inspect the terminal for tampering. Look for marks, scratches, and missing seals or screws, especially around the seams or terminal window display. Also look out for extra wiring or holes and added labels, decals, or other materials that may hide damage caused by tampering. If the terminal shows signs of tampering or if components you ordered are missing from your shipment, contact Customer Support.
