You can manage card readers in the 
Gateway Manager,
      including attaching, detaching, activating, and deactivating them. 
 In order to attach a card reader to a merchant, the reader must
      first be added to your Gateway Manager. Contact your account manager to have a card reader
      added to your app. 
If you want to exchange a card reader, make sure to first detach the
        existing reader before you attach the new one, so that the terminal ID remains
        unaffected.
      - In the  Gateway Manager- , select the merchant from the list and click
             - Attach card reader - . 
- You can now choose the card reader from the drop-down menu. Look up the reader by
          entering its serial number. It will appear in a drop-down menu. 
- After you have found the card reader that you want to attach, click
             - Attach - . The merchant you selected can now use the attached card
          reader.  - If you choose a card reader that is attached to a different merchant, that
              merchant will no longer be able to use the reader. 
 You can detach a card reader from a merchant
      in the Gateway Manager. For example: If a merchant is no longer using a card reader because is
      was lost, stolen, or returned; the card reader must be detached from that merchant. 
If you
        want to exchange a card reader, make sure to first detach the existing reader before you
        attach the new one, so that the terminal ID remains unaffected.
      - In the  Gateway Manager- , select the merchant from the list and click
             - Detach card reader -  . 
- Confirm the dialogue to detach the card reader. As a result:  - The merchant can no longer use the reader. If the merchant tries to use the reader,
              an  error message-  displays. 
- The reader can be attached to another merchant. 
 
Activating or Deactivating a Card Reader
 You can activate or
      deactivate a card reader in the Gateway Manager. Card readers that are lost, stolen, or
      damaged must be deactivated. Deactivated card readers cannot be used by merchants and cannot
      be attached to new merchants.  
- In the  Gateway Manager- , look up the card reader in the Card Reader
          section. 
- Go to  - Edit Card Reader Information - . 
- Use the  - Status -  switch to activate or deactivate the card
          reader. 
- Click  - Save Changes -  save the new status of the card reader.
