Connecting Verifone P400 Terminal Hardware

After integrating the PayServer or PayButton SDK into your point-of-sale (POS) system, the card reader can communicate with your POS system through a local network connection (Ethernet or USB).
Required components:
  • Verifone P400 payment terminal
  • Ethernet / USB dongle cable
  • Power supply unit
  • Ethernet or USB cable (Wi-Fi connectivity is not currently supported)
Follow the steps to connect the terminal to your network:
  1. Remove the cover from the back of the payment terminal by sliding it in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  2. Plug the 28-pin connector that is fixed to the Ethernet / USB dongle cable firmly into the port on the back of the terminal.
  3. Slide the cover back into place to hold the cable securely in place.
  4. Plug the power adapter prong into the Ethernet / USB dongle cable port marked with the lightening bolt icon.
    Plug the terminal into the lightning bolt port into the connector hub.
  5. Plug the other end of the power adapter into a power outlet. The payment terminal turns on automatically when connected to a power source. The screen display may flash on / off initial during start up. To turn the payment terminal off, disconnect the power supply cord from the power outlet.
  6. If you are using the Ethernet connectivity method, plug an Ethernet cable into the port on the Ethernet / USB dongle cable port marked
    ETH
    . Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the POS system port.
  7. If you are using the USB connectivity method, plug a USB cable into the port on the Ethernet / USB dongle cable port marked with the USB icon. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the POS system port.
