How do I turn the card reader on?
The card reader does not have an on / off power button. Connect the VX820 card reader
to its power supply cord and to a power source. It will turn on and will boot up.

power source.
How do I change the password?
- Enter the "Engineering Menu" by pressing the[YELLOW]and[1]keys at the same time.
- Enter"12345678" as the default password. Click on "Password" and enter your new password.
- Press the[GREEN]key to confirm.
- Exit the “Engineering menu” by pressing the[RED]key.
What if the card reader displays a "Comms Error" message?
This error message means that the Verifone VX820 could not connect to your network. Verify
your Ethernet settingsand reset them, if necessary. If
this does not resolve the error, restart the card reader.
How can I verify that the card reader is reachable within the network?
Open a command line and run
telnet <ip>
<port>
. If the device is reachable, it will connect and show "Device
powered on".
